Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Thomas Dayspring is a diplomate of both the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He is also a certified menopause practitioner by the North American Menopause Society. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School and is an attending in Medicine at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson and Wayne, NJ. His private medical practice of 33 years is currently limited to consulting menopausal lipidology.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Heart Association Council on Atherosclerosis and several other organizations. He is a board member of the Northeast Chapter of the National Lipid Association and is listed in the Guide to America's Top Physicians. He is a faculty member of the Master's of Lipidology Course offered by the National Lipid Association and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology.

He is one of the most requested speakers in the United States with expertise on atherothrombosis, lipoprotein and vascular biology, advanced lipoprotein testing, and the CV effects of estrogen and selective estrogen receptor modulation. Dr. Dayspring has given over 2500 lectures, including hospital and medical school grand rounds, large CME programs and multiple other speaking venues such as teleconferences and web casts in all 50 states during the last ten years.

He is the author of several articles relating to lipids and lipoproteins including their relationship to gender, estrogen and raloxifene as well as a chapter on cholesterol synthesis, absorption and excretion in the 2008 textbook, Therapeutic Lipidology. He also authors "Lipidaholics Anonymous" a biweekly newsletter received by several thousand healthcare professionals. He is a Power Point expert and has created multiple animated slides, including CME CDs, relating to all aspects of lipidology and atherosclerosis.

Dr Dayspring is available for:

1) Clinical Lipidology Consultations and Patient Care: diagnostic and therapeutic lipidology, for persons known to be at cardiovascular risk, familial and genetic lipoprotein disorders, complex combination therapeutic situations, etc. Cardiovascular care for premenopausal and menopausal women with lipid/lipoprotein disorders, to include council on hormonal and contraceptive therapies in women with cardiovascular issues.

2) Educational speaking engagements related to cardiovascular topics such as: understanding lipids and lipoproteins, advanced lipoprotein testing, atherogenesis, CV risk assessment, women and CHD, CV issues related to estrogen and SERMS, CV lipid-modulating drugs, translational lipid biochemistry, other advanced topics, etc.

Dr Michael Richman

Dr Michael F Richman, MD, FACS, FCCP
Director: The Center for Cholesterol Management and The Elite Laser Vein Center

Dr. Richman is a diplomate in the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians. In 2002-2003, he was listed by the Consumers' Research Council of America in the "Guide to America's Top Surgeons."

After completing his undergraduate and medical degrees at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., Dr. Richman moved to his native home of Los Angeles to complete his General surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. As Chief Resident, he was given "The Excellence in Teaching Award". He remained on the faculty at USC as a Clinical Instructor of Surgery for one year before completing a fellowship in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami.

Having performed nearly one thousand cardiac bypass procedures throughout his career, Dr. Richman has always maintained a strong interest in the preventative aspect of cardiac care, namely cholesterol (lipid) management. The Center for Cholesterol Management was opened in August 2005 in order to focus exclusively on preventative care and management for those who may be at risk for heart disease. Dr. Richman is a noted authority on lipid disorders and is currently the "Cholesterol Expert" on WebMD and a member of editorial board of the Clinical Journal of Lipidology. As a Cardiothoracic/Vascular surgeon, he has treated numerous patients with Venous Disease throughout his career. In late 2006, he opened the Elite Laser Vein Center in order to treat and provide up to date and the newest cutting edge procedures to tackle this often misunderstood problem. He is one of the few surgeons in the Los Angeles area that performs Endovenous Laser Ablation for lower extremity venous problems. Recently, he opened the second location of The Elite Laser Vein Center in Beverly Hills.
